Age related changes in the eye are evaluated by a thorogh eye exam which includes:

• biomicroscopic slit lamp evaluation

• indirect biomicroscopy

• precise measurement od retinal topography by the Cirrus HD-OCT (Carl Zeiss Meditec, Dublin, Calif.). The macular thickness map is plotted as a fingerprint of your macula on a paper and sequntial mapping allows monitoring of changes and response to therapy.

• Canon fundus camera allows us to superimpose the topographic thickness changes of the macula to the clinical picture for a better precision.

• Amsler grid testing measures the functional impairment and metamorphopsia

• Central Visual Field testing allows mapping and following of the scotomata

• Detailed evaluation of your sun and ultraviolet radiation exposure

• Evaluation of your nutrition and diet allows us make recommendations on dietary modifications to reduce your risk of progression of your macular degeneration
